Sad news, Alf's old sparing partner from Norley Hall boxing club, Ronnie Hurst, passed away a few years ago. Rest in peace.

R.I.P Alf was nice to have known and worked with you, condolences to family.

Was told last night that his funeral is at St James , Friday 5th Dec. Not sure what time.

I can remember him on the telly fighting on Sportsnight, there was a big crowd in the Newtown Labour Club that night possibly 78 ish
I think he lived on Ferguson Rise.

Somebody told me, ( not Alf himself ) that Alf fought Dave Boy Green as an amateur and that was on T V. Could that have been the one you saw Davey? But it must have been before 1978, as Dave Green had turned pro by then.
